Digg!

screenshot picture Dungeon Siege Throne of Agony pspI must admit, aside from a brief flirtation with the wonderful World of Warhammer, I've never really gone in for the whole sword and sorcery thing. I suppose I like spaceships too much.

But this here Throne of Agony still managed to grasp and hold my gnat-like attention span. It's a great-looking game, and manages to pack the depth of a full-on RPG into your hands.

There is a solid XP system to steadily increase your attributes (you get to choose whether to build up strength, stamina, willpower etc). There is a veritable wealth of items, weapons (ranged and melee), armour, gear and potions to put to use, find, and loot. Give yourself a follower to compliment your fighting style - like if you're a mage, get yourself a swordsman tank while you kite around the enemy while firing off volleys of fireballs. Your follower gains XP too, so you can speed up their attacks, increase their healing skills and so forth.

It just looks beautiful too. This is another great 3D title for the PSP, make no mistake. You probably won't want to play this in direct sunlight though because the screen can get pretty dark when the in-game 'day' becomes 'night'. Night-time really shows off the amazing fire, lightning and energy effects though.

Where would any self-respecting RPG be without quests? Well 'Throne is chock-full of them. They'll open up new areas and new loot, and the story of why it is that you're doing all this struggling for survival stuff will become clear as the plot thickens.

When I heard about the wireless co-op mode, I couldn't help but imagine some giant Warlord wreaking havoc in the frozen food section of an ethically sound supermarket with a ruddy great broadsword. But the truth turned out to be even more fun than that - you can romp through levels with up to 15 of your mates, co-operating on quests and generally blatting the nasties. Crazy.
