I WANT I WANT I WANT... A Korg Kaossilator!
Oh how I miss my old Korg Kaosspad...For one reason or another I used to spend hours noodling around, coaxing ever more bizarre noises from it. One of my favourite passtimes was piping the News at 10 through some heavy Kaoss, over some fat beats. Yeah, I was a student...Cut me some slack ok?
So when my mate sent me a link to a video of Korg's latest box of musical magic, I nearly creamed one off. Sure, it's mainly aimed at the DJ community (RCA jacks et al) but this little groove machine is a one-man band. In your hands. It would be a lot of fun in a live gig environment. Or on a busy commuter train.
So what's inside? â–º 31 scale patterns (see the youtube vid to get a taster - rave on!) â–º 50 types of gate arpeggiation â–º Loop Recording with overdubbing to build up complete grooves.
There's a notable lack of MIDI interface, but sticking one in would be missing the point if you ask me. This is about doing it all in real-time. And doing it large.
This clip pretty much says it all...
Check out the Korg Kaossilator website for more info. |
